Been using this app for years. I've just started using tags, as I didn't know how customizable they were! However, I'd love to have a tag where I can subtract a custom amount instead of a set amount. Sometimes people come in with gift cards and is like to be able to add a tag that then let's me input the amount to be subtracted in real time. Please! Thanks for the app.

timo Hi! I'm pretty new to the app so maybe I'm misunderstanding something, but I'm trying to create a tag to add a custom amounts to my shifts for bonuses, but the variable tag replaces my current earnings instead of adding to them - is there a way to add a custom amount? (At the moment, if I made 220 and add the bonus tag, then enter 50, my earnings will be 50 instead of 270)

I’m curious if there’s an efficient way to set a base rate for a task while rounding is enabled. Like, if I charge for every 10 min, but I complete a specific task in under 5, it won’t round down to zero.

You could use the "round up" rounding in the app settings. It would however then also round from 11 min to 20 min etc. But there's currently no logic that covers something more specific like "under 5 min".

I was playing with this app and have kind of figured out tags but I do work a separate earning rate like "Overtime" pay each week So I created an earnings adjustment tag but am curious if I have to stop and restart my time and apply the tag or if I need to keep the time running if there was a way it would start the new earnings at the time cap for the base pay.

Tags can only applied on the "whole" work unit, not just parts of it over a certain threshold. So if you have a higher earnings rate after a certain amount of hours, you would have to do this manually by stopping the timer at the threshold and starting a new one with the tag.

I have been a super happy user of WorkingHours for nearly a year now! I use a "Standard working hours" tag to keep track of whether I work more or less than the required 8 hours per day. I have found it the easiest to do this based on an "8 h per day" tag, since then I do not need to do anything for vacation or sick days.

However now I have run into the situation where I worked on a day that is normally a day off. In that case, all the hours should count as extra hours, not just the hours beyond 8 h. The only way I found to do this is to create a new tag with "0 h" daily, and add the hours from both tags manually. Is there a way to do this within a single tag, such that all the hours of a given day exceptionally count towards a "Standard working hours" tag?

Captain_Peng Maybe I didn't fully understand the example, but I would try to just duplicate the (8h) work unit and it should count as +16h towards the tag. Does this work?

timo Hi, sorry, never saw your reply - I am not sure I understand your suggestion. Are you saying I should enter the 8 hours twice, so that the second 8h appear in the counter? However then the running total will be off, wouldn't it?

Marty It depends what "operator" (+, -, *, /) you chose. When you chose "variable" as operator for your tag, it overwrites the earnings value. But I plan to make this more flexible with a future update, so that a variable amount can be added/subtracted/multiplied etc.

@timo , this is fantastic app. I use it on iphone since 2021 and for few more years on android before. Both pro version.
Now I am going to be paid in a bit different way at my work, and tried to find a different app for replacement... no success, Your app is just the best. The reason I tried to replace is overtime function. I went through the forum here and the help above and despite your advice here and there, nothing is working for me. If I create the tag as you suggest, the overtime is cumulated at gross, so after a week the data is completely unusable, and additionally the overtime is not shown in analytics even if I switch to show tags. It is just impossible to track overtime in other way than to create it as a task, but then, I need remember to switch the task afer 8 hours every time it is happen. I work up to 14 h a day, and in the throes of my job I simply do not remember about switching the task to have proper overtime count. Obviously I could adjust it after finish my work but it is always additional thing to remember about. So my question is: is it possible to make a toggle e.g like in focus sessions which makes possible to enable overtime like sessions and brakes? I mean any possibility to have automatic overtime counter would be a huge help. I've read here that you are not willing to complicate this app with overtime option due to so many users from so many countries ( btw, in England are exactly the same rules like in USA with payments 1.5 Saturday, 2x Sunday - just mention) but even counting time alone as an overtime would be fantastic. No matter what your answer, thanks for fantastic job 🙂

aikenadam Thanks for the kind words and the feedback.
I admit the overtime tag is a bit of a "hack" and other apps might offer better support for that. I currently have no plans to adjust or expand on it as I don't see how this could be done without making the whole thing way more complex. Maybe switching the overtime tag to "per day" rather than "per week" makes it more usable for you. Sorry.

timo Thank you for reply. I gonna use overtime as an extra task then. Maybe at some point in the future you'll find a solution 🙂 If I could to add one more thing though: your app is so good and flexible that I truly believe that the overtime option would leave other competition apps far behind. None of them so good and so simply to use in my opinion. Thx.

aikenadam Hi, not sure I fully understand which feature you are missing - for me it works very well to have a "standard working hours" tag of 8h per day, and then the App counts how much time I work in excess or less, and keeps a running total of how much I worked beyond 8h per day that I work (and am neither sick nor on vacation etc.).

You could to the same with 40 h per week, but then you need to enter tasks for vacation and sick days - otherwise those will create negative overtime.

Is there a way to create a tag to adjust an hourly rate used?
I recently put up my prices, but have given existing clients a couple of months at the old rate.
New customers get charged the new rate, so I was hoping to be able to create a tag, than added an extra £5 per hour.
e.g. my old rate was £30 per hour (charged in 5 minute intervals), but the new rate is £35 (only for new customers at the moment. So I just want to add a tag that adjusts the price based on the new hourly rate.
This would be handy for other scenarios too. for example, if I gave a particular client a discount.
I'm guessing it might be easier to just create a new task but thought I'd check first.

eyetoother The closest thing to achieve this without having to create a new task with a new hourly rate is probably an "earning adjustment tag" with a multiply value of 1.16666666667 (because 30 * 1.16666666667 = 35)

I've created many tasks for each of my clients with many tags inside it to know what i did during that time.
However as soon as i select the task (client) inside a already tracked time, all the tags are automatically added to the time tracked and I have to remove them all one by one unless the one i want to keep.
How can I prevent this from happening?
