Can i merge databases?

Title. I was previously working on another time tracking app before coming to WH and put off the tast of backing up the previous database into WH for months.

The problem is: I cannot add that data to WH, only replace it. I COULD just save my current database somewhere, load the older one, get the data i need, then load back my WH backup...

But im afraid of messing that up and losing months of data on currently tracked work.

Is there a way i can bring my old data to WH safely without going the long way around whenever i need to see older data?

Edit: nvm, im not even sure how to import to workign hours. Do i save the previous database in csv? json? how do i even get them into the app?

How are you expecting to import data from another time tracking app to WorkingHours? There is no import function for this. You would need to migrate that data manually.

timo I have no idea. I was hoping i could save the data as a CSV or something and find an import function. But the way you spoke makes it seems the only way i can do it is to create an entry and doctor date and time for every entry, (which sounds like a ton of busywork)

Yes that's currently the only way to do it. Time tracking apps aren't generally cross-compatible as they all use different data structures. Developers would need to write a converter/importer for each data format manually. I am unable to do that, I would consume too much time.

If you have coding experience, the only thing you could do is to write a converter yourself and add the data directly to the SQLite database.
