Grouping Tags

Would be a nice feature for me if I could group my Tags. I have more and more Tags (for every invoice for example) and the ComboBox "Add Tag" is bigger and bigger.

Can you please explain in much more detail how such a feature should look like and how the tags should work, as mentioned here?
Would you then only see the "group" tags in the combo box? What if you have grouped all your tags but then want to select one of those tags?
I understand the tag list is too long for you but I cannot see how grouping tags would fix that.

Hi Timo,

in the Combo Box you could see all GroupTags (collapsed) and the Tags without groups. It's like a folder structure.

Here an example of all tags, not collapsed:

Some Tag
another Tag
Meeting general
Group Meeting
- Meeting with A
- Meeting with B
- Meeting with C
Group Invoice
- Invoice January
- Invoice February
- Invoice March
- Invoice April

In the "Time Tracking" Combobox "Add Tag" your see Tags without a group and the GroupTags (are collapsed):

Some Tag
another Tag
Meeting general
Group Meeting
Group Invoice

If you click in the ComboBox on the GroupItem "Group Invoice" you just fold out that GroupItem, you can't add the group to your time tracking:

Some Tag
another Tag
Meeting general
Group Meeting
Group Invoice <-- after click
- Invoice January
- Invoice February
- Invoice March
- Invoice April

After that you can choose some SubTag.

If you have just groups it would be also working:

Group Meeting
Group Invoice <-- after click
- Invoice January
- Invoice February
- Invoice March
- Invoice April

I think just one group level is enough. To have in a group and another group would be to much.

If you like you could also add a whole group to the export function or by the Tag-Filter (it's like choose all "meetings", you just activate all checkboxs of the SubTags in the Group).
But for me would be ok to have just the group just for the organization of the Tags, I don't need it for the export or filter.
The Groups could be have a special icon instead a circle (folder icon or a square or whatever)

It's not possible to have a folder structure with expandable items in a combo box. Or do you not actually mean combo box? A combo box is this: this
I think you mean the flyout that shows after clicking the "Add tag" button, right? A flyout looks like:

I just working with Winforms, I don't know flyout. But yes, I mean the flyout control bei "Add Tag".
Add some groups and categories or what ever to reduce the selection items.

Or a new idea, just a disable option by the Tags. After that I can't see that Tag in the "Add Tag" button. Would be also good for me. If I want to work with a disabled Tag I can enabled it.

There just ideas to to make my workflow better but is your decision and would be a nice feature for me.

That certainly would be easier to implement. Would you want the same behavior as with "hidden tasks"?
Meaning they don't show up anywhere any more except in the tags overview list?

timo Yes, would be nice! I could hide my old Tags and visible it if I need them.
