There is no release version shown there. The version distributed on Gumroad is usually very close to the app version distributed through the Microsoft Store but not always. The current version is 2.9.8.1 on Gumroad.
Why is it so important to know the latest version number? Are there any problems with the app?

Yes, timo I wanted to check the version if I am up-to-date before I post the bug. All of a sudden the task bar icon has stopped showing the pause-play symbols. I cannot tell if the timer is running or paused until I open up the app. It was a very helpful feature. Sometimes it showed wrong information, but the symbols were still there. This time around they have totally disappeared. Is this by design with the new updates? I am on version 2.9.14.0

That's almost certainly a Windows issue, make sure you have not disabled this in the Windows settings and have a look into this comment.
Also, make sure you have Windows updated.

Thanks! I checked the badge setting and it was turned on. But I will reboot my PC to see if it makes any difference. At least I know now that this feature was not removed by you in the new release 😃
