Use NFC tag without first writing to it

Would it be possible to have the app recognize an arbitrary pre-programmed NFC tag (like from a workplace access badge) to trigger start/stop?
As far as I know there should be some at least semi-unique identifiers on every tag the app could use.

If not, I'd be curious to know what info actually gets written to the tag.

Currently, that is not possible, Workinghours expects a text/string in a specific format to be present on the NFC tag.
The actual content you can read with NFC reader apps available in the app store
