Reality is that for a good part of the day, the main window is not really needed to be in the front. The overlay task window is enough to switch between tasks (provided you resize it to show the clickable task names).
That means that the main app icon on the taskbar is merely adding unnecessary clutter, since its is not needed most of the time, and my windows taskbar is pretty full already. 😄
It would be nice if there was an app setting to minimize and/or close into the taskbar system tray; hide it from the main taskbar icon list.

BTW, I think this behavior might have been what intended by this previous Feature Request back in February.
