Group work units by day & task

Work units can currently be grouped by day, weeks or months. I'm using the tool for tracking my working hours for entering later into another system. During a day I often work several times on the same task, but for reporting into another system I'm only interested in the sum of every task per day.

It would be nice to have the possibility to group work units on two levels and have the possibility to additionally group by task.

At the moment the option for Group Work Unit is Day/Week/Month...

It would be great if there was a "nested" option so that in the Time Tracking view you could easily see the Daily and Weekly value

Use case: I am on a X hours weekly contract, and I like to see both my daily and weekly status (at the moment, I set the grouping to Daily and do a rough mental addition for my weekly status)

It would be great to access this setting in a more easy way. As a freelancer I several contracts with different agreements. For example that I have to work 20 hours per week for example or that I have a batch of hours for the whole job. Thats why I have to switch between daily and weekly views quite often.

There is so much room in the top bar so it would be very very useful to have a switch there enabling me to toggle between the different views 🙂

yes, I also like this idea, as it would already help to access the differrent settings easier and is probably easier to implement as a true nested view of different criterions (which of course would be the cherry on the pie).

The two sets of grouping is great, but a third would work even better for my workstreams - i.e. group by day, group by tag and group by task. This application is amazing, and would be perfect if I could group as mentioned:
29 August - Project A - Task 1
29 August - Project A - Task 2
29 August - Project B - Task 1

If there is a workaround to achieve this result in the export then I'm open to suggestions!

in particular, I agree with Raph that adding the grouping criterion selection (day, week, month,…) to the top bar of the app would already be of great help

Adjacent feature request to grouping. I'd love to be able to add a third level for grouping Days, Tasks and then Tags.

I also use WorkingHours to track my time before submitting to another enterprise application. Grouping by day makes it easy to sum up all of the smaller chunks of time I worked on a project throughout that day. By task provides me the ability to tell which project, but adding an additional (3rd) grouping option for tag would help to define what time inside of that project was used for design, dev, test, support, etc.

Currently I'm exporting and grouping in Numbers or Excel to collect this data. It'd be nice to be able to do this in WorkingHours to use immediately in SubTotal.

I too wish for an easier way to quickly access the "group work units" setting. I don't want to navigate to settings each time, as suggested above maybe day, week, month... group buttons could show along the top?

While I appreciate the concept of nested grouping for tasks, I would also find value in the ability to group tasks solely based on the task itself, with the date displayed in work units. This would be particularly useful for me as my working hours occasionally extend into the evening and conclude in the early morning hours, resulting in a single task spanning two calendar days. In such instances, having the option to group tasks together would provide a clearer overview of the total time spent on each task, typically ranging between 8 to 9 hours.
