1-click task switching

When I want to change from task to another I have to stop the current timer and start a new one. Would be great to have a button available called "Change Task" which stops the current one, creates a new entry for a new task, provide the possibility to select the task and tag.

You can right click past work units and press "continue work" and it will start a new work unit with that task right away. You can also switch tasks with one click using the overlay window.

Hi timo. I have been using the "resume work" option in the right click menu for some time now, however I do see how the suggestion by Tobias to have a Change (switch) Task would be helpful. I see this being used when you have not had to use a particular task today and want to quickly switch from the current task to that new task.

Selecting 'Switch Task', probably from the right click menu also, would allow me to initiate a task quickly when for example, a customer calls and I want to record the time spent talking with them without being distracted by the extra steps of stopping the current task and selecting a new task for the call.

Please consider implementing the "Change/switch task" option that Tobias has suggested for inclusion in a coming update.

An alternative implementation of this would be a new button alongside the Stop work and Pause work buttons, labeled 'New Task' which would stop the current task and begin a new one immediately, allowing you to begin recording time and add the details later (say once you had finished the call).

I recognise that you can select a task and switch to a new task quickly from the overlay but I do not like to use the overlay as it takes up screen real estate and interferes with my workflow. It would be good to have a similar facility in the main user interface such as I have described here. Thanks for your consideration of this feature request.

Hi, Yes, that would be a suitable implementation. My primary concern is to make the action of switching to a new task take as few clicks as possible. I the specificaton you refer to would be appropriate.

@timo @Terry_Wilkinson I would also like this feature, and I thought of radio-buttons, the original ones in cars. You set them up (button1=Cat1,TagX,LabelY, button2=...) and then you would push the button of the activity to switch to, and the previous button would pop out, it's a one click switch. Thank you
