During backup new tasks deleted replaced with old tasks

WorkingHours version: 2.6.7.0
First backup, all seemed fine, green bar saying backup successful. The last task created was "end of month," with a tag "end of month." A client asked to close the monthly billing on the 29th instead of the 30th.

I noticed the "backup" function and realized I had never backed up the database. So I plugged in my onedrive credentials and backed up. When I returned to time tracking all of my resent tasks had vanished, replaced with this tasks that hadn't been used since January 2020.

Any ideas what might have happened?

With "backup", are you actually referring to the Cloud Sync?
Because the "backup" is a quite different option with its separate button in the app settings.

Have you ever used the Cloud Sync before (like in January)?
Can you have a look in your OneDrive and see what files are present in the Apps/WorkingHours folder?

What do you mean with "it doesn't want to upload the files"?
When you enable the sync WorkingHours tries to figure out what state of the database is newer - the one locally or the one in OneDrive.
Perhaps in your case the backup in OneDrive was larger and therefore downloaded. Hard to tell what exactly caused it, normally WorkingHours shows a prompt and asks the user what to do when it cannot decide for sure.

Apparently, I was not logged into OneDrive. I am now logged in. What is the difference between “reset” and “import?” Will either one help?

I still don't understand what exactly you are trying to achieve.
The reset will reset the database.
With the import button, you can import a database (e.g. the .wh files from OneDrive)

I apologize for not being more precise. I was in the middle of finishing a rush project. Let's start over. At this point, I don't remember whether I did sync or a backup.
I just noticed that all of the tasks for my current projects have disappeared. The tasks shown are for last year's projects. It appears that all of this year's tasks have randomly changed to the previous year's tasks.
There is a backup dated 2020-06-30. I think that this is the restore point for the tasks. The following entry is 2021-04-05, which should have a “
new” task description.

I assume with "task" you actually mean "work units" and with "projects" you mean "tasks"? See terminology here.
I don't know what happened there any how I could reproduce or fix it. Also don't know how to go back to the previous state. WorkingHours does daily backups that you could normally import but in your case the sync seemingly was disabled for nearly a year.

I usually work with a monthly retainer, which does not require hourly time keeping. Due to covid I haven't had many clients and those I did have were cash per task. The point is that the last sync, should be around 2020-06-30. The next entry is 2021-04-05, 279 days later. Thr "sync's" aren't missing they never ran. I am only interested in the April and May data. Doses this healp?

The sync must have ran at some point, otherwise the file from 2020-06-30 wouldnt be there.
