Taskbar icon indicates timer running, when actually paused

WorkingHours version: 2.16.2.0
OS + version: Windows 11
Device model: Dell Latitude 7400

I have used your app for several years (thanks) and have even paid for it twice happily This is the first time ive encountered this issue.

Given in Settings / Timer Control I have selected to Pause Timer when the user becomes absent,
and i have the app pinned to my Task bar
When the time has paused due to my absence OR because i have manually paused it,
Then it still shows the circular arrows- which indicate that the timer is running - on the taskbar icon,
Even though the time tracking has actually paused (correctly) and is showing the options to Stop work or Resume work, in the app itself.
I noticed this for the first time yesterday, 10 May 2026. I have rebooted my machine since seeing it, and the MS store says i have the latest version of your app

A similar topic was recently discussed here (in German). I suspect it might be a newly introduced Windows issue, but I can’t reproduce it on my end. Unfortunately, there’s not much I can do since the arrow icon is managed by Windows. I’ll try adding some logging in an upcoming update, but for now, I’m not sure if there’s anything I can actually fix on my side.
One question: If it's showing the "paused" icon, what happens when you stop the timer? Does the icon/badge disappear?

timo , thank you for your response, and your referal to the German discussion (apologies for the repeat ticket).
If i stop the timer, the icon returns to the static view - no spinner and no pause indicator.
When i go to the microsoft store, it says i'm on the latest version, But I will try the uninstall/reinstall.

Can you please clarify:

the problem (that the "rotated arrows" icon stays visible) happens every time you pause a running timer?
when stopping a running or paused timer, the problem never occurs and the icon always disappears?

The uninstall-reinstall unfortunately has not effected any change to the issue. Hopefully this is resolved in a windows updates soon.

Yes, correct - the "Rotating arrows" icon stays visible every time I pause the running timer AND every time the running timer autopauses.
Yes, correct - when stopping a running timer OR when stopping a paused timer, the problem never occurs, and the icon always dissapears.

I came to report the same issue. The pause icon just doesn't show anymore. The rotating arrows icon remains visible every time. Stopping tracking time works fine. Starting to track time works as well.

Thanks everyone for confirming. After a recent Windows update, I was able to reproduce the issue on my Windows device as well. For me this clearly looks like a newly introduced Windows bug.

The timer itself is paused correctly, but Windows sometimes keeps showing the previous taskbar status icon. I found a workaround and it will be included in the next Windows update, version 2.16.6.0.
