Feature Request – Smarter Time Tracking
Current Issue:
The system currently records activity around midnight, even though the laptop is turned off.
It does not accurately detect real work start and end times, as it fails to distinguish between standby mode and actual user activity.
It creates multiple tasks per day, even when the user is working continuously. This leads to unnecessary and confusing entries.
What should be tracked:
- Login and logout
- System start and shutdown
- Standby and wake events (e.g., opening the laptop lid)
- Actual user activity, not just system uptime
Typical Workday Scenario:
- I arrive at work, open my laptop (not a full restart), and log in with my user account.
- I work throughout the day, leaving only briefly for breaks or lunch.
- At the end of the day, I close the laptop lid. The laptop goes into standby; I do not shut it down completely every day.
The system should recognize this as a single continuous workday and record the time accordingly — ideally with configurable pause detection.
Suggested Settings:
Option to define how time is recorded:
Separate tasks per session/block
Cumulative time per day
Ability to set standard working hours, for example:
8:00 AM to 5:00 PM
Define whether the user works full-time (40 hours/week) or part-time
Additional Suggestion:
At the initial setup, the system should ask the user:
"Are you self-employed, full-time, or part-time?"
This allows the system to:
Calculate target working hours correctly
Automatically track overtime or undertime
Provide more meaningful and accurate time reports
