This is unfortunately a problem that I cannot control. It's an Android/Google problem and many Android developers complain about it for a long time, see here: https://github.com/android/play-billing-samples/issues/2
I didn't fully understand the timeline of events in your explanation. You say "bought the Pro version on the personal account, installed the app". Did you install the app after buying the Pro version?
Also, are you sure the purchase was successful and there the app went to "Pro version" after your purchase?
What account do you have set as your primary account in the Play Store?
Is it possible for you to buy the app on your work account? I could then try to refund your other purchase on the personal account.
