Basics, sorry...

I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong, but I'm having trouble with what seem like two basic things:

1) Controlling which task is being timed (the same one always starts when I hit "go"....SO, I deleted all but that one to keep things simple. But then...

2) It keeps allocating time to the same day. According to the app, it is still January 12, and I have worked 10 hours on this task...though my work has been spread over multiple days and I would like to be able to see that.

So I think a little tutorial would be great here...but I can't find one in the app or here. Is there one available?

I'm OK having just one task if need be, but how can the app know what day I'm working? I have paid for the full app and would love for it to work properly. Thank you!

1) If there's only one task, then this task is being used. If there are multiple tasks, it depends on if you (de)selected the "show task selection on work start" option in the app settings.
2) I don't know what you mean by that, a screenshot would help
3) The tutorial topic has been discussed a few times already, as can be seen here. There is also an FAQ section that covers most questions. At the moment, I do not have enough time to spend on a tutorial

The version I downloaded on 1/12 does not have a "show task selection on work start" option in the app settings. That's OK, I'm just tracking one task, so I'm not worried about that not working.

I would like to see my weekly time totals, so I'd love to get the hours allocated to the right days. Here are the screenshots. I started logging this task on Thursday 1/12, and have worked on it over various days since (totalling over 12 hours)—here we can see it running today, 1/22:

However, all the time is allocated to 1/12:

Ah, you're using the app on MacOS. On MacOS you need to long-press on the "start" button for that task selection to appear.

And how are you tracking your work? It looks like you never stopped that work unit by using the red stop button. Are you using the pause button instead? You would need to use the stop button. The pause button rather is for short breaks

You nailed it! Since I was using this for just one task that I pick up each day, I was using "pause"—which does seem to keep the counter on the same day.

If I use "stop" instead, and start a new task, the new task shows up as the current day.
